Dancing on 'sea-water'

Just North of the township of Sea Lake, Lake Tyrell is Victoria's largest salt-crusted shallow lake, in the heart of our otherwise dry region. Spreading over 50 thousand acres, it truly is the perfect place to come & escape the everyday hustle & bustle, despite its ever-growing popularity with tourists. According to Wikipedia, "tyrell' is a word derived from the local Wergaia word for "sky", which you can see reflected all around the mirror-like surface of the still lake.

Whether you have lived in the Mallee for generations or are only calling it home for a few years, this is the perfectly iconic place to immortalise your time in the region.

Photographing Mallee families

There is so much to explore in our beautiful region. 'Flat & dry' also means endless horizons & stunning sunsets. If you are still unsure about inviting me in your homes (blog post to come about all the advantages of in-home photography), there are dozens of amazing locations where we can meet & capture family memories you will want to admire for years to come.

Although dawn & dusk have made the photographic popularity of Lake Tyrrell, little people often have a mind of their own at these times of the day. I am perfectly aware of that: these have been captured mid-morning, including snack breaks & entertainment aplenty in the shape of bubbles, fossil digs & ball throws, in the short half an hour we had. In my books, this is the only way to capture authentic expressions in happy content children. And if all else fails, it is still a stunning background for a mid-tantrum capture you will want to remember too!
