I know it can be daunting, but hear me out...
Getting family photos can be stressful. Kids are unpredictable little things. They can be cheerful one minute, angry at the world the next (and I'm not just talking about toddlers here). That's before we even consider the weather or a world pandemic...
There are so many unknown when you first book a session. Will it be warm on the day? Will they behave? Will you have slept the night before? Will we get one picture without the oldest's death stare or the youngest's thumbs up?
I can't answer 'all' of these but what I can say is that comfortable subjects make for happy & willing subjects. And where are you most comfortable than in your own home.
Home is where your heart is.
It might be cliche but let's think about it for a minute.
Where did your fondest memories take place?
I'm talking about the first time they grabbed onto your finger, their first giggles at their sibling's antics, the blanket fort they build every morning for months, the way they snuggle as close to you as they physically can when you're all on the couch, their favourite hiding spot under the curtains, the water trail from the bucket they carry in & out at the first sign of sunshine, all the crumbs cleaned up by the dog (if you're lucky), the dress ups that have become way too small but they refuse to give up on...
These scenes are not tied to perfectly brushed hair or spotless clothing. These are the memories you make surrounded by the mess & chaos that is life with children.
No need to pack the house, I'll come to you.
Whether you've just come home with your own bundle of joy or your everyday is already filled with much bigger bundles, let's face it, it can be such a hassle to get everyone organised & packed to go anywhere. Add to that the 'stress' of a photoshoot and you've usually got one stressed mama...
What if I told you you didn't have to do any of that? Actually you don't even have to do ANYTHING before I come. Dishes might be in the sink, laundry could be all over the dining table, I won't notice any of that. (And neither will you once I deliver all these beautiful snapshots of your family, frozen in time.)
Not only do I get to capture a glimpse of your home just as it is in this moment of your life (whether you like the wallpaper/dodgy carpet/old windows or not, believe me you will be glad you have photographs to look back on and get reminded of all the good things), it also means you don't have to worry about a nappy explosion, the hangry toddler who needs his tenth snack (but not the one in your bag), or even the elusive moody teen that wants a bit of peace & quiet in his own space.
All you have to do is open the door for me.
Can I bring anything?
I would love to come & document your everyday and all the things you don't yet realise you will want to remember. If you're in the Bega Valley or Far South Coast of NSW, Australia and would like to discuss options for an in-home session (newborn, everyday, farm life...), feel free to contact me here, I would love to have a chat!
